I spent my professional career at sea before trading that adventure for the boardroom, leading people and organizations through challenging waters. Those years taught me to listen closely, lead with empathy, and appreciate the small, meaningful moments that shape us.Most importantly, they taught me that people matter.The cost of that career, though — decades of it — was presence. Head down. Always moving. Always producing. You don't realize what you're missing until the pace finally stops.Retirement didn't slow me down at first. Turns out stillness is something you have to relearn. So is curiosity. And wonder. And simply... looking up.Somewhere in that relearning, I picked up a camera. Then press credentials. Then a microphone. Not to fill the time, but because the simple act of seeing gave me back a sense of purpose I didn't know I'd been missing.Photography changed something in me. You can't be distracted and truly see. Behind the camera, I became present in a way I rarely had before. And with that presence came something unexpected: balance. Fulfillment. Contentment. Happiness.Now I chase unique aircraft, track wildlife through a long lens, and shoot from the sidelines of college and professional sports — then come home and talk about the adventure, the people, and the journey on the Coffee with Dave podcast.Saluki Digital Media is the umbrella for all of it.One creator.
